Nissan Pathfinder (2005 - 2014) Equipment, Accessories & Interior

The Nissan Pathfinder equipment list has been through various changes in its lifetime, with trim and kit levels starting with the S, SE and SVE models when the car was launched in 2005.

They then changed to Trek, Sport and Aventura until 2009 when the current line-up was introduced.

This now comprises Acenta and Tekna trims, with the Trek offered with the six-speed manual or five-speed automatic gearboxes. All Pathfinder models come with seven seats arranged in a 2-3-2 format.

The Acenta version of the Nissan Pathfinder comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome grille, rear privacy glass, roof rails, an opening glass rear hatch and colour coded door mirrors that incorporate puddle lights.

The Acenta also has Isofix child seat mounts, Nissan’s All Mode four-wheel drive system, six airbags, ESP, hill start assist, remote central locking and front fog lights. There are also electrically adjusted and heated door mirrors, fold-down passenger seat for added load capacity, electric windows all round and automatic headlights and wipers. Acenta buyers also enjoy a CD stereo with Bluetooth connection, CD autochanger and MP3 connector.

For the Tekna version of the Nissan Pathfinder, you get an iPod connector, Intelligent Key for keyless entry and ignition, 7-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation and rear parking camera, cruise control with speed limiter and a 9GB hard drive music store. The Tekna also includes auto dimming door mirrors, heated front seats, Xenon headlights with washers, 18-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, 18-inch alloy wheels and side steps.

For the automatic gearbox-equipped Tekna, Nissan also adds in Downhill Drive Support to help prevent the car going to fast on slippery descents by braking the wheels automatically.

There’s a wealth of options for the Nissan Pathfinder, starting with a choice of metallic paint colours and alloy wheels.

Buyers can then select from accessories that include chrome mirror caps, stainless steel corner bumper bars, a roof spoiler, side bars with steps and a tailgate entry guard. There is also a tough boot liner, dog guard, rubber mat set and carpet mats to pick from.

Practicality is enhanced by a tow bar, roof rack, cycle carrier, ski rack for up to six pairs of skis, and a luggage pack that consists of cross rails and a cargo net that can carry up to 100kg

Nissan Pathfinder safety is good. In official Euro NCAP crash tests the Pathfinder was awarded four stars out of five for adult occupant protection. This is average for a large 4x4 and on par with cars such as the Mitsubishi Outlander and Land Rover Discovery. All models get driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags along with ESP+ (a combination of ABS, an electronic stability programme and traction control) plus all seats have three-point seatbelts.

From late 2006 the Pathfinder also comes with hill descent control which helps it crawl down steep hills at a snail's pace.

The Nissan Pathfinder (05-14) was tested by Euro NCAP in and received the following safety ratings:

Euro NCAP provides motoring consumers with a realistic and independent assessment of the safety performance of some of the most popular cars sold in Europe. The safety ratings are determined from a series of vehicle tests, designed and carried out by Euro NCAP. These tests represent, in a simplified way, important real life accident scenarios that could result in injured or killed car occupants or other road users.

All but the base S models come with seven seats as standard (from mid-2006 the S was replaced by Trek). These can be split/folded and transformed into a totally flat loadspace for larger or more awkward loads up to 2.8 metres long: Nissan claims there are 64 seat/load-space combinations. There are also loads of cubby spaces to make life on board easier including a double-deck glovebox, underfloor storage and storage bins in the back.

The tailgate is also split, so just the glass opens, which means you can quickly drop bags into the load area - useful in multi-storey car parks.
